The Chai Council takes inspiration from the vibrancy of traditional Indian advertising and illustration. We wanted to create a brand with a bold and contemporary colours, evocative of the bright tones found within our culture and cuisine.
We believe the name 'The Chai Council' adds authenticity, authority and creates a sense of intrigue which lends itself to the secret family recipe within our Chai blend.
Hi, we're Rishi & Prisha, co-founders of The Chai Council.
For those unfamiliar with Chai, it is one of the favourite drinks amongst Indians especially during the monsoon and winter months and brewed by simmering spices, milk and tea.
My first experience of Chai was from a very young age, made by my late grandmother at home using her Masala Chai recipe, and I was immediately hooked. Now it is a hot beverage essential to start my day.
In our culture, Chai recipes are passed down through the generations and are tightly guarded family secrets and usually consumed with traditional savoury snacks, like our Kenyan Style Chevdo.
Whilst Chai can be subjective like the taste of coffee, we believe we have a beautiful authentic blend. Our Masala Chai recipe has travelled far and wide and passed down through generations and we're now sharing our family recipe with you.
It includes an array of high quality spices ethically sourced from around the world which includes peppercorns and cinnamon to cardamon, cloves, and ginger and much more.
Whilst the blend of spices is important to the perfect cup, so is the brewing process and the black tea you use. Our black tea is sustainably sourced directly from farms in Kenya, Africa and we pay fair prices for really good tea to make a lovely blend that’s large on flavour, seriously refreshing and perfect for a cup of Chai.
Our frustration is too often you’ll see the word Chai used to describe a product that tastes nothing like authentic Chai; typically, it's the “Chaibucks” of this world made with sugar syrups.
At The Chai Council, our mission is for anyone to be able to experience the traditional methods of making authentic Indian Chai in their own home.
